Kemppi Oy is a Finnish company that manufactures welding technology. Kemppi designs, manufactures and sells welding equipment and related software, and offers customer service and advice. 

Company history

The company was founded in 1949 by Martti Kemppi as Veljekset Kemppi Oy . The first products were exported six years later. In the mid-1960s, Kemppi launched the first MIG / MAG welding machine.

Kemppi founded its first subsidiary in Sweden in 1972. In 1978 exports exceeded domestic sales for the first time. In 1990 Kemppi was the world's first manufacturer of welding equipment to be awarded the ISO 9001 quality certificate. In 2006, Kemmpii had a market share of around 10% in Europe for arc welding machines.

In 2006 the MinarcMig ™ Adaptive 180 model received the international Red Dot Design Award . In 2011, the Kempact RA product family received the iF Product Design Award .

The company now has two production facilities in Lahti, Finland, and one production facility in Chennai , India . In addition, there are own companies in 15 countries (including since 1985 in Butzbach and since 2012 in Langgöns ). The products are exported to 70 different countries.

Kemppi Oy is a subsidiary of Kemppi Group Oy.

Sports

Kemppi has sponsored the racing driver Valtteri Bottas since 2007 and the Williams F1 Team , for which Bottas is a regular driver, since 2012 . The sponsorship ended in 2015. According to another source, the support will continue to exist on a personal level.
