Kenji Ōba ( Japanese 大 場 健 史 , Ōba Kenji ; born August 14, 1967 in Kanagawa Prefecture ) is a former Japanese football player .

Career

Ōba learned to play soccer on the school team at Asahi High School . He signed his first contract with Nissan Motors in 1986 . The club played in the highest league in the country, the Japan Soccer League . In 1991 he moved to the second division Sumitomo Metal . With the founding of the professional league J.League in 1992 and the associated reorganization of Japanese football, Sumitomo Metal became Kashima Antlers . In 1993 he was runner-up in the J1 League with the club . For the club he completed 50 games. In 1995 he moved to league competitor Kashiwa Reysol . For the club he completed 28 first division games. In 1997 he moved to the second division side Kawasaki Frontale . At the end of 1998 he ended his career as a football player.
