Kenneth Purple
Kenneth Richard Purpur (born March 1, 1932 in Grand Forks , North Dakota , † June 5, 2011 in Rapid City , South Dakota ) was an American ice hockey player . His brother Fido Purpur was also an ice hockey player and was active in the National Hockey League for five seasons .
Career
Kenneth Purpur attended the University of North Dakota from 1951 to 1954 . For the US national ice hockey team he took part in the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo , where he won the silver medal with his team. He then worked as a teacher in Rapid City for 38 years and was named the city's teacher of the year in 1990. A year earlier he had been inducted into the University of North Dakota Athletic Hall of Fame .
