Kenneth Marshall Walsh (born February 11, 1945 in Orange , New Jersey ) is a former American swimmer and two-time Olympic champion .

Career

At the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City , he won the gold medal twice with the US relay. She was able to set a new world record in both 4 × 100 m freestyle and 4 × 100 m medley. In the individual competition over 100 m freestyle, Walsh won the silver medal behind the Australian Michael Wenden , but ahead of his compatriot Mark Spitz .

Walsh was an extremely successful relay swimmer. In addition to the Olympic victories , he was able to win two other competitions with the relay at the Pan American Games of 1967. His only significant success in individual competition was the NCAA 100 yards freestyle title, which he won in 1967 for Michigan State University .
