Bugem (also Kenset ) is the ancient Egyptian name of a Nubian region, which lies south or southeast of the first cataract ( Aswan ). The exact location is still unknown today. The place is especially mentioned in the context of the myth The Homecoming of the Goddess : Oh, come to Egypt, Dorcas Gazelle of the desert , great splendid ones of Bugem .
The inhabitants of Bugem were called Punt in the thematic context of the God's land . It remains unclear whether Bugem was the name of a necropolis . Bugem also represented a transit station for the deities Hathor , Sachmet and Tefnut on their return journey to Egypt, whereby the goddesses in their function as bearers of the sun's eye were also considered to be Mistresses of Bugem .
