The list of mayors of Homburg lists all mayors of the Saarland district town Homburg in chronological order . Since the territorial and administrative reform of 1974 , the city has had a Lord Mayor , since 1996 direct elections have taken place, before the city council elected the Lord Mayor.

Election results

Reiner Ulmcke

In 1977 he was elected Lord Mayor by the city council, and in 1986 his first re-election. In 1996 he was confirmed in office a third time by direct election .

Joachim Rippel

The election took place on September 2, 2001. Rippel was able to prevail against Astrid Klug (SPD, 34.6%) with 62.0% of the votes cast . Barbara Spaniol ( Alliance 90 / The Greens ) achieved 3.4%.

Karlheinz Schöner

Due to the appointment of Joachim Rippel as Minister for Economics and Science in Saarland on September 5, 2007, early mayoral elections were necessary. The election took place on January 13, 2008 with a turnout of 49.3% and led to the following official final result:

Rüdiger Schneidewind

The election with a turnout of 54 percent took place on May 25, 2014 and led to the following result, in which none of the four candidates achieved the required absolute majority:

In the runoff election on June 8, 2014 with a turnout of 41.6 percent (13,886 valid votes), Rüdiger Schneidewind emerged as the winner with 55.6 percent (7,721 votes) against Peter Fuchs 44.4% (6,165 votes). Due to a conviction for infidelity in office to a suspended sentence of 15 months by the Saarbrücken Regional Court , he was suspended from his office on March 27, 2019 .
