Kent Diederich Skelton Durr

Kent Diederich Skelton Durr (born March 28, 1941 in Cape Town ) is a former South African politician and ambassador .

Life

Kent Durr sat from 1977 to 1991 for the National Party with a mandate from the constituency of Maitland in Parliament.

From 1984 to 1988 he was Deputy Minister for Finance, Trade and Industry ( Botha II Cabinet ) and from 1988 to 1989 he was Minister for Finance and Public Works. From 1989 to 1991 he was Minister for Trade, Industry and Tourism in the de Klerk cabinet .

From April 15, 1991 to 1995 he represented the South African governments in the government in London. During this time, South Africa's apartheid policy ended and on May 31, 1994 South Africa became a member of the Commonwealth of Nations again .

From 1995 to 1997 he was Managing Director of Fuel Tech NV . From 1998 to 1999 he headed the Commonwealth Investment Guarantee Agency Ltd & affiliated coys .

Since 1999 Durr has been a member of the African Christian Democratic Party , for which he sat from 1999 to 2004 in the National Council of Provinces and from 2004 to 2005 for the constituency of the Western Cape in Parliament .
