Cabinet Botha II
The Botha II cabinet emerged in September 1984 from the South African government of the then incumbent Prime Minister Pieter Willem Botha . On September 3, 1984, he was provisionally elected President of the State by the previous cabinet , on September 5, on the basis of the new constitution, by an 88-member electoral college , and officially introduced to the office of President in Cape Town on September 14 . In 1984 there were only elections for two chambers ( Coloreds , Indians ). The first chamber (whites), called the House of Assembly , was formed after the 1981 parliamentary election .

In the second Botha government, ministers from the National Party (NP), the Labor Party (LP) and the National People's Party (NPP) were represented. They came from all three houses of parliament, but the representatives of the “white” House of Assembly dominated . The first cabinet meeting took place on September 19, 1984. Since the cabinet was formed in 1984, there have been numerous changes in membership. There were considerable changes on December 1, 1986 with regard to the layout of some departments and the staffing of top posts.

The constitution of the three-chamber parliament provided for a ministerial group ( Ministers' Council , German: “Council of Ministers”) for each chamber of representatives .
