The building at Keplerstraße 6a, Otto-von-Guericke-Straße 47 is a listed residential building in Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

It is located in Magdeburg's old town on the west side of Otto-von-Guericke-Straße in a prominent corner location. Keplerstrasse runs to the north and crosses Otto-von-Guericke-Strasse here. The building is also part of the Keplerstraße 5, 5a, 6, 6a, 7, 7a, 8, 9, 9a, 10, 13 monument area .

Architecture and history

The plastered house was built in 1951 as the first new construction of a residential building after the Second World War in Magdeburg's city center. The design was created in the style of the national tradition of GDR architecture by the state planning office for the construction industry of Saxony-Anhalt, Magdeburg branch. The simply designed building consists of two wings, one six and a half story along Keplerstrasse and one seven and a half story towards Otto-von-Guericke-Strasse. The building was built in traditional brick construction. On the ground floor there is an ashlar facing , the wing facing Otto-von-Guericke-Straße has a strong cornice. There is a mezzanine floor above the cornice . The building comprised 26 two-room and seven three-room apartments. The apartments were equipped with a bathroom and toilet and each had individual stove heating. There were also two elevators. The move-in date was February 28, 1951.
