Keratella cochlearis (also called facet rotifer ) is a species from the genus Keratella from the tribe of rotifers (Rotatoria). The name 'facetted wheel animal' refers to the multi-subdivided Lorica (shell). The rotifer is widespread in planktonic lakes and in the marine area. As described by Robert Lauterborn , K. cochlearis shows cyclomorphosis : in the summer one finds thorny forms in lakes, in autumn and spring thorny forms.
