The Fuqing nuclear power station ( Chinese 福清 核電站 , Pinyin Fúqīng Hédiànzhàn ) is located in Fuqing , Fujian Province , People's Republic of China , on the coast of Xinghua Bay (兴化 湾), near the village of Qianxue, Sanshan . In the final stage, the power plant should consist of 6 pressurized water reactors CPR-1000 with 1,000 MW each. The CPR-1000 is a Chinese further development of the pressurized water reactors installed by Areva in the Daya Wan nuclear power plant .
The power plant is jointly owned by China National Nuclear Corporation (51%), China Huadian Corp. (39%) and Fujian Investment & Development Co Ltd. (10%) built and operated. The cost of the power plant will be approximately 100 billion yuan , around $ 14.7 billion. Construction of the first block began on November 21, 2008 and should take 5 years.
The first concrete for Block 2 was poured on June 17, 2009, 3 months ahead of schedule. The first concrete for Block 3 was poured on December 31, 2010. Construction on Block 4 was scheduled to start in 2011, but was delayed until November 2012 due to China's review of its safety regulations after the explosions in Fukushima .
In November 2014 it was announced that blocks 5 and 6 should be built according to the Hualong One design, a further development of the CPR-1000, block 5 should go online in 2019. The first concrete for Block 5 was poured on May 7, 2015.
