Kerstin Müllerperth (born November 30, 1962 in Rielasingen ) is a German art glass blower .

Life

Kerstin Müllerperth comes from the Thuringian glassblowing dynasty Greiner-Perth. After graduating from high school, she trained as an art glass blower in her father's workshop. She then studied at the “Academy for Designing Crafts” in Aachen, where she graduated in 1991 with the “Design in Crafts” exam.

Hanns Zischler writes about her sometimes factually cool, sometimes Venetian playful work:

"When we marvel at Kerstin Müllerperth's glass objects and touch them gently, hold them in hands and against the light and lose ourselves in their colors, we touch the secret of the art of glassblowing."

From 1990 to 1991 Müllerperth was a lecturer for "glass beads" and "glass jewelry" at the Schwäbisch Gmünd University of Design .

She was a member of the jury, including the 2017 “ GEDOK FormArt Elke and Klaus Oschmann Prize”. She has been a member of the jury of the Baden-Württemberg Association of Craftsmen since 2015 .

She is married to the goldsmith Johann Müllerperth . Her daughter is the pianist Magdalena Müllerperth .

Awards and recognitions

She received a scholarship from the "Foundation for the Promotion of the Talented" (1989) and won several prizes, including a 1st prize in the "The Closable Vessel" competition of the Ewers Gallery, Cologne (1989) and a 3rd prize in the North Rhine-Westphalia competition " Young craft "(1990). In 2016 she was nominated for the State Prize for Design, Art and Crafts Baden-Württemberg and reached the final round.

Exhibitions and purchases

Kerstin Müllerperth presented her filigree designed glass at national and international exhibitions and trade fairs, including in Karlsruhe, Cologne, Bremen as well as in Switzerland and the USA. At the end of 2016, she and her husband Johann's jewelry had a large exhibition entitled “Nature in Gold and Glass” in the New Orangery at Schwetzingen Castle .

Works by her are in the jewelry museum Pforzheim and in the German goldsmith's house (Hanau).
