Kerstin Meier (born January 19, 1975 in Templin ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ) and was a member of the Brandenburg State Parliament from 2005 to 2014 , to which she was a brief member in 1999.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1993, she studied law, literature, history and sociology at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder) and at the Open University in Hagen . From 1999 to 2004 she worked as an electoral district employee for a member of the state parliament. Since 2001 she has also been working as a freelance director and production assistant at the theater. From February to October 2005 she worked for marketing at the Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt (Oder), among others .

Kerstin Meier is single and has one child.

She has been a member of the PDS since 1992 , Die Linkspartei.PDS from July 2005 and from June 2007 she is a member of Die Linke.

From January 8th to September 29th, 1999 she was a member of the Brandenburg state parliament in the second electoral period, she moved up for Christian Gehlsen via the state list and was a member of the committee for science, research and culture and the petitions committee during this time.

Kerstin Meier has been a member of the Frankfurt (Oder) city ​​council since 2000 .

On October 21, 2005 she was again a member of the Brandenburg State Parliament. In the 4th electoral term she replaced Lothar Bisky , who was elected to the German Bundestag . She acted as media and sport policy spokeswoman for the group and was a member of the Committee on Budgetary Control and the Committee on Economics.

In the state elections in 2009, she moved into the state parliament of Brandenburg via the state list . In the 5th electoral term she was a full member of the Committee on Budgetary Control, as well as the Committee on European Affairs and Development Policy and spokeswoman for media policy and the creative industries of her group. Meier was also deputy chairwoman of the Economic Committee. After the state elections in Brandenburg in 2014 , she left the state parliament.
