Kerstin Stutterheim

Kerstin Stutterheim (born May 17, 1961 in East Berlin ) is a German author , scientist and filmmaker in the field of documentary film . In addition, she creates film studies.

Career

From 2015 to 2020 Stutterheim taught as Professor for Media and Cultural Studies at the Faculty for Media and Communication at Bournemouth University, with which she is still associated as a visiting professor. There she was director of the Center for Film & TV Research research group from 2016 to 2019. Before that, she taught from 2006 as a professor for AV media dramaturgy and aesthetics at the University of Film and Television "Konrad Wolf" in Potsdam. There she was founding director of the Institute for Artistic Research. Before that she was professor for film / video and media theory at the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurtin the design department and the media management course in the business administration department. From 1992 to 2001 she worked as a freelance filmmaker and artist, as a dramaturge and producer. Stutterheim is a member of the German Film Academy and the Association of German Film and TV Dramaturges VeDra . She also works as a reviewer for the British Council and various universities around the world. She did her doctorate on occult world conceptions in the background of documentary films from the time of the “Third Reich” and since then has been working regularly on the representation of anti-Semitism in the media, for example in the German weekly newsreels, which invites her to the Yad Vashem Research Center was.

On March 9, 2020, Stutterheim was appointed rector of the Art Academy for Media Cologne (KHM), and took up her position on April 1, 2020. She also works as a professor for artistic research at the KHM.
