Kerstin Margareta af Jochnick (born March 17, 1958 in Virserum , Kalmar län ) is a Swedish economist who worked for the Swedish Reichsbank , the financial inspectorate and the interest group Svenska Bankföreningen .

Career

Born as Kerstin Joelsson, she studied economics , statistics and law at Stockholm University . In 1976 she began her professional career at Sparbanken Kronoberg before moving to the Reichsbank the following year. In 1991 she went to the banking supervisory authority Finansinspektiven, where she was initially team leader from 1994 and department manager from the following year. From 2003 she was a member. In 2004 she sat in parallel on the management body of the newly created European Supervisory Authority Committee of the European Supervisory Authorities for the Banking System, which was composed of representatives from the banking supervisory authorities and the central banks of the EU countries . In 2008 she took over the management of the committee, from which she left the following year to take over the chairmanship of Svenska Bankföreningen . Until the end of 2011, she chaired the lobby group for the Swedish banking industry.

In December 2011, af Jochnick was appointed by the Reichsbank as the first deputy of the incumbent President Stefan Ingves with a term of six years. In September 2017 the terms of office of the two leaders were extended, while his term extension was limited to five years, their term of office was extended by six years. Her responsibilities include representing Swedish interests in international supervision, which is why she is a member of the Basel Committee and the Technical Committee of the European Systemic Risk Committee .
