Kevin Clash

Kevin Clash (born September 17, 1960 in Baltimore , Maryland ) is an American puppeteer , actor , television director and television producer .
Life
Clash attended Dundalk High School . As a puppeteer, he was initially a member of the team for the US television series Captain Kangaroo . From 1985 to 2012, the puppet character Elmo was played by Clash on the US TV show Sesame Street . Other puppet characters he played are Clifford , Benny Rabbit and Hoots the Owl . Clash was married to Genia Loving for 17 years and has one daughter. The couple divorced in 2013. Clash lives in Los Angeles.
