The current license plate of Greenland , which were introduced in 1976, corresponding to the Danish design with black letters on a white background with a red frame. The license plates usually begin with GR, followed by five digits, with the first two digits separated.

Until then, license plates were valid that were only introduced in 1968. They had white letters on a black background. They started with a G and a five-digit number that had a thousand separator.

When distinguishing signs will be in accordance with the Greenland country name Kalaallit Nunaat used KN.
