The Khamsin Pass is a 750 m high mountain pass on the Fallières coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It runs in a north-south direction between the Relay Hills in the west and the Kinnear Mountains to the east .
The pass served between 1936 and 1937 scientists on the British Graham Land Expedition (1934-1937) under the direction of the Australian polar explorer John Rymill as well as subsequent expeditions as an easy route from the Wordie Ice Shelf to Palmerland . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1977 after the desert wind Khamsin in Egypt .
