Khano Smith (born January 10, 1982 in Warwick Parish , Bermuda ) is a former Bermuda football player and today's coach.
Career
Club career
Smith started his career in the soccer team, Champlain College. He spent two years with the Beavers before continuing his studies at Lees-McRae College. After two years for the Lees-McRae Bobcats, he decided to start his professional career at the USL Premier Development League Club Carolina Dynamo. In the summer of 2003 Smith returned to Bermuda and played the next two years with the Dandy Town Hornets . In the spring of 2005, Smith was drafted by New England Revolution and played the next three seasons in Major League Soccer . On November 28, 2008, he was drafted by Seattle Sounders FC in the fourth round of the MLS Expansion Draft . Without ever having played a game for the Sounders, he was transferred to New York Red Bulls . After playing 8 games for the Red Bulls, he was put on the waiver list in July 2009 and released from his contract on July 30, 2009. After several trial training and reserve games for Norwich City , he signed in October 2009 for Lincoln City FC. In January 2010, his contract was terminated by mutual agreement of Lincoln City FC. and he returned to the New England Revolution. After the 2010 Major League season, he was fired from Revolution and moved to the Carolina RailHawks . Without having played a game for the Railhawks, he canceled his contract on April 4, 2011. Smith then returned to Bermuda and played 5 games for the Bermuda Hogges before retiring. In spring 2014 he celebrated his comeback in the PDL at Real Boston Rams .
National team
From 2003 to 2011, Smith played 31 times for the Bermuda National Football Team , scoring 10 goals.
Coaching career
After retiring in 2011, Smith worked for the Bermuda Football Association as a coach. From 2012 to 2013 he was the coach of the U-18 team of New England Revolution and has been the assistant coach of the U-23 team in his home country alongside head coach Don Vickers since 2014 .
