Khatri Addouh

Khatri Addouh ( Arabic خطري أدوه, DMG Ḫaṭrī Addūh ; * August 31, 1954 ) is a former Sahrawi President and current President of the Sahrawi National Council.

After the death of Mohamed Abdelaziz on May 31, 2016, he was appointed acting President and Secretary General of the Polisario Front .

Career

Abdouh is a member of the national secretariat of the Polisario Front. There he worked in the orientation department. Until August 2010 he also worked as Wālī of Es Semara . On July 10, 2010 he was appointed President of the Sahrawi National Council. He replaced Mahfoud Ali Beiba, whose death was attributed to a heart attack by SADR, while Moroccan media claimed that Beiba was murdered to make way for Addouh. He was then re-elected in the same position on February 24, 2014 and again for a third term on March 19, 2016 . Addouh became acting president, as Mohamed Abdelaziz , who since 1976Was president for 40 years, died on May 31, 2016. He convened the 2,300-member Council of Delegates in Ad-Dakhla , which elected Brahim Ghali as the new President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic.

Addouh also leads the Polisario negotiation team in various international organizations. Addouh and his loyalists are working to obtain observer status with the United Nations that will enable the Polisario government to make the claim as the legitimate representative of the Saharawi people.
