Daw Khin Kyi ( Burmese ခင် ကြည် ; born April 16, 1912 in Myaungmya ; † December 27, 1988 in Rangoon ) was a Burmese politician , Burmese's first female ambassador to India and the mother of state advisor Aung San Suu Kyi . "Daw" is the honorable form of address of a woman in the Burmese language . Daw Khin Kyi became a well-known figure in Burma's political life, where she was mainly active in social policy. In the biographical film The Lady , she was played by the Thai actress Prapimporn Karnchanda .
