Kick in Iran (English Kick in Iran ) is a documentary by the director Fatima Geza Abdollahyan. It is Taekwondo -Kämpferin Sara Khoshjamal Fekri on their way to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing accompanied. Sara is the first Iranian woman in the history of women’s sport to qualify for the Olympics.

action

Director Fatima Geza Abdollahyan accompanies the athlete Sara Khoshjamal-Fekri and her trainer Maryam Azarmehr over a period of nine months, from qualification to participation in the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008. The two taekwondo fighters have to overcome many hurdles put in their way, not only, but also because they are women in a Muslim country. The trainer and student never lose faith in their goal and persist in pursuing it, even if they are not always taken very seriously.

The film gives an insight into the reality of life for two competitive athletes in Iran, who go their way between the veil and combat training. The humor and irony with which the protagonists counter some prejudices loosens up angry encounters with contemporaries.
