The FC Kickers Wallduern was from 1910 to 1993, a German football club based in the city of Walldürn in Neckar-Odenwald-Kreis in Baden-Wuerttemberg . In the 1946/47 season, the club played for a year in one of the then second-highest German leagues after the Second World War. By merging with SV Fortuna Walldürn , founded in 1962 , the club went on October 14, 1993 in the Eintracht ´93 Walldürn .

history

Prehistory and foundation

The club was founded in June 1910 as FC Phoenix Walldürn . Due to the lack of clubs in the area, there were no real opponents in the first few years. In 1911/12 the competing football club "Germania" was founded. From now on, the Phoenix players could play on their facility, but sometimes had to play for the opposing team. Germania was only to last for a short time and in 1912 there were first efforts to join a larger club. This year there were negotiations for the first time with TV 1848 Walldürn , but initially without success. After the outbreak of the First World War, gaming operations came to a standstill. After the war, the association continued to exist internally under the TV. In addition, the "Schwarzer Adler" association was founded, which joined TV in 1921. Due to the refusal of the TV to get further involved in football, a new club was founded on July 19, 1923 under the name FC Kickers 1910 Walldürn . Thereupon the football department of the TV was also dissolved.

Second World War to 1960s

Game operations could only be fully maintained until 1937. From February 1939, the club's sports operations were completely given up. Shortly after the end of the Second World War, however, gaming began again. For the 1946/47 season , the club then even rose to the Landesliga Nordbaden , which was the second highest division at the time. With 9:43 points, the team was the last of the group north to immediately relegate. In 1948 the team was on the verge of relegation from the 2nd amateur league to the A class. However, this could be averted. After the 1848/49 season, the team was even able to position itself in second place in the league.

After several single-digit placements succeeded again in the 1959/60 season promotion to the third-class 1st Amateur League North Baden . With 25:35 points, the class could then be kept very tightly over the 14th place. After the next season, with 21:39 points and the penultimate place, it was over again and the club was relegated to the 2nd amateur league . In the following time the team was able to establish itself at the top of the 2nd amateur league. Despite participating in several relegation rounds, no further promotion was possible. In 1962, in the form of SV Fortuna Walldürn , the club had inner-city competition for the first time in a long time, and in the same class from 1965.

1970s until merger

Together with Fortuna, the club rose after the 1972/73 season. After the 1977/78 season in the then new Bezirksliga Buchen the promotion succeeded again, but after a season in the Landesliga it was over again. In the 80s, however, the team could not hold out in the district league for long. In 1983, the company was relegated to the A-Class. After the following season, however, they were promoted again.

The 75th anniversary of the Kickers Walldürn club was celebrated in 1985 with a large sports festival and its own commemorative publication. For the 1985/86 season, the first negotiations began with SV Fortuna about cooperation in the youth departments. From the 1986/87 season this also became a reality. After the 1987/88 season, the team then rose again. It was only after the 1993/94 season that he was promoted to the district class again as runner-up in the district league.

As early as November 1992, confidential internal negotiations between Kickers and SV Fortuna about a merger of the two clubs began. As a result, signatures were collected from both associations independently of each other. After a few weeks, most of the team's players had signed. In February / March 1993, talks about a merger officially began. After a vote on the merger on April 24, 1993, the members of the Kickers spoke almost unanimously and the members of SV Fortuna about 60% in favor of a merger of the two clubs. On October 14, 1993, the founding meeting of the new association named Eintracht 1993 Walldürn eV followed. On November 26, 1993, both associations decided to dissolve the two associations at a general meeting. The Kickers were then officially dissolved on May 31, 1994, and the merger came into force one day later.

After the merger of the Kickers with the SV Fortuna , the Eintracht '93 Walldürn was formed . But it took a while for the team to get used to the new formation. After the first season in 1994/95 as a new team, the Eintracht closed with 28:32 points in ninth place in the district league Buchen. After the 1997/98 season, the championship in the district league and thus promotion to the regional league Odenwald for the next season succeed . With tenth place in the following season, the class could then also be held. However, after the 1999/2000 season, the team had to go back to relegation from the regional league to the district league with 16th place and only 20 points.

In the district league, the first team of Eintracht Walldürn was active until 2003/04, after which the championship title was finally achieved again and promotion could be secured. After the first season back in the national league, the team rose with 26 points over the 14th place but directly again. This time, however, in the Buchen district league. From there succeeded with the second place after the season 2007/08 after the relegation, one more time promotion to the national league. In the first season, this could easily be held even above fifth place. Due to the 13th place after the 2010/11 season, however, the team rose again to the district league. After the championship in the 2012/13 season, however, the promotion to the regional league again succeeded. In the first season here, the team was able to achieve a high single-digit placement with fourth place in their debut season. After another season, relegation from the regional league was sealed with 14th place and only 29 points. After the 2017/18 season, the promotion was again successful, only to be relegated as 17th after the next season. Since the 2019/20 season, the club has been back in the Buchen district league .

In March 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany, the sports grounds had to be closed and all training operations suspended indefinitely. The game was also suspended by the Badischer Fußballverband.
