Kiel marathon

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kiel Marathon is a marathon in Kiel that has been taking place in February since 1995. It is organized by LG POWER-Schnecken Kiel eV . The program also includes a half marathon and a 10 km run. Up to and including 2008, a quarter marathon was held instead of the 10 km run.

The course is a flat turning point stretch of 10.5 km along the west bank of the Kiel Fjord with start and finish on the Stena Line ferry line .

The run was initiated by the Swedish marathon runner Karl-Gustaf Nyström and is still frequented today by many Scandinavian runners who arrive by ferry.
