The Kilbuck Mountains form a mountain range in western Alaska .
The Kilbuck Mountains run northwest of the Kuskokwim Mountains in a southwest-northeast direction. The highest point is the Marvel Dome with 1148 m . The second highest point, the 1111 m high Mount Hamilton , is located 24 km north-northwest. In the south, the mountains are separated from the Eek Mountains and Ahklun Mountains by the course of the Kwethluk River . To the north and west is the Kuskokwim lowlands . The valley of the Aniak River separates the mountains from the Kuskokwim Mountains and Wood River Mountains further east .
The Kisaralik River , a left tributary of the Kuskokwim River , cuts through the southern part of the mountain range. The Nyac mining center is located in the northwest of the Kilbuck Mountains on the upper reaches of the Tuluksak River .
The Kilbuck Mountains were named in 1898 by JE Spurr of the US Geological Survey (USGS) in honor of John Henry Kilbuck , a missionary of the Moravian Congregation .
