history

North face of St Bride's Chapel

St Bride's Chapel dates back to the 13th century. It is located on a hill that may be the moth of the previous fortress of Kildrummy Castle . The parish church was added in 1605 to the Elphinstone Aisle of the Elphinstone family. With the rebuilding of Kildrummy Parish Church in 1805, St Bride's Chapel was abandoned. Some of the stone material was removed and used to build the new church, so it has been in ruins ever since. Only the Elphinstone Aisle was restored in 1862 and appears largely intact.

description

The Kildrummy Parish Church is located in the middle of the scattered settlement Kildrummy off the A97 . The simple hall church has an elongated floor plan. The south facade is designed with two high neo-Gothic pointed arched windows. A rounded apse emerges on the north side . On top of it sits a brick roof turret with an open bell. It closes with a curved hood, ball and cross.

The parsonage, built in neo-Jacobean style in 1850, is located near the church . The main facade of the large, two-story building was designed by Thomas Mackenzie and James Matthews . It is three axes wide with a central entrance portal and flanking curved gables . In 1865 a large, Harl- plastered wing was added on the back.
