Kim Casali

Kim Casali (born September 9, 1941 as Kim Grove in Auckland , New Zealand ; † June 15, 1997 , Weybridge , Surrey ) is the creator of the well-known cartoon series " Love is ... ".

She drew her first picture in this series in 1968 for her boyfriend and future husband Roberto. Many more were to follow every day - but Roberto secretly sent them to the Los Angeles Times , which published a picture for the first time on Valentine's Day 1970. From 1975 she worked with the British draftsman Bill Asprey.

Kim Casali had two sons with her husband Roberto: Stefano (1972) and Dario (1974). However, her husband died in January 1976, after which she was artificially fertilized with her husband's frozen sperm, and her third son, Milo Roberto Andrea, was born in July 1977.

After her early death at the age of 55, her eldest son Stefano continued the cartoon.
