Kim Ch'ae-wŏn (born December 13, 1946 in Tŏkso , Kyŏnggi-do ) is a South Korean writer .

Life

Kim Ch'ae-wŏn was born on December 13, 1946 in Tŏkso , Kyŏnggi Province . She graduated from Ewha Womans University with a degree in Art . In 1975 she made her debut with the work Nocturnal Greetings (밤 인사) in the magazine Moderne Literatur (Hyŏndae munhak) .

Her writing style is characteristic of her works, which particularly stands out in her works with a first-person narrator perspective. These stories are told from the very subjective perspective of a first-person narrator , whose gaze is turned inward, and follow the delicate emotions and tremors of his psyche. Although her characters suffer from a feeling of loss and helplessness, the author manages to convey poetry and beauty through these wounded souls. One of her stylistic devices is the juxtaposition of memories and present experiences, which are filtered through the “tinted lenses of consciousness”.
