Kimball Gallagher

Kimball Gallagher (* 1981 in Boston ) is an American pianist and composer.

Gallagher studied at Rice University with Jeanne Kierman-Fischer and at the Juilliard School with Robert McDonald . His longstanding mentor is the pianist Joseph Smith . With a sold out debut concert at Carnegie Hall , he began his 88-Concert Tour in 1988 , a series of more than three hundred concerts in thirty countries on every continent. With these concerts in unusual places, some in private rooms, he wanted to revive the tradition of the salon concert. For each of these concerts he composed and played a prelude. The tour ended in 2015 with a recital at Carnegie Hall.

Gallagher combines his musical activities with humanitarian actions. In 2014, he founded the Myanmar Music Festival (and gave a private concert for Aung San Suu Kyi ) and after several concert tours in cooperation with the Tunisian Ministry of Education and Action et Dèveloppment Solidaire, the Tunisia88 initiative , which included a concert tour through schools in Tunisia and the foundation of Included music clubs in 88 schools. In Egypt he gave a benefit concert for the NGO Al Fanar . To coordinate his activities and partnerships, he founded the organization 88 International in 2008 .
