The band was founded in 1995 by Katrin Holst and Bernd Klimpel, who had previously played in school bands. Frank Spinngieß and Lars Köster joined them later. The band is named after an album by Miles Davis .

In 2000 the band attracted attention when they took third place in the preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest behind Stefan Raab and Corinna May with the song "Bitter Blue". In the same year the first album "In Sight" came out.
