society

The association Kindernothilfe Austria with the ZVR No. 946775229 was founded on October 28, 1996 by five Protestant Christians . In October 2002 the office of Kindernothilfe Austria was opened in Vienna. The association has 14 honorary members, including five board members. The chairman of the board is Robert Fenz. In 2016, around 60,000 donors supported the relief measures of Kindernothilfe Austria, around 3,600 of them sponsoring children.

Project work

The association currently focuses on projects in 31 countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia. The cooperation takes place exclusively with local partner organizations who are familiar with the needs on site and are experienced in working with children. Many of the partner organizations have a Christian background, but the girls and boys are promoted regardless of their religion or church affiliation.

Special focus is on projects for children in risk groups such as AIDS orphans, child workers , street children , children from disadvantaged groups and abused children.

In addition to the direct support of a child and its protection from violence and exploitation, strengthening the family and the village community in which the child grows up is of great importance in the work of the association. To this end, the families are involved in the development and implementation of the aid measures from the start. Nutrition, education, medical care and new ways of income are improved together. The aim is to strengthen the self-help capacities and the initiative of the local people.

Humanitarian aid has been an essential part of project work since 2005. In addition to providing emergency aid after a disaster, particular attention is paid to the reconstruction of structures, income-generating measures and the establishment of children's centers, so-called Child Friendly Spaces.

financing

The relief measures are mainly supported by sponsorship contributions and fundraising. An annual report provides information on the current focus of the project and the use of the donations received. Kindernothilfe Austria has had the Austrian seal of approval for donations since July 1, 2003 and has been on the list of beneficiary institutions of the Federal Ministry of Finance since 2009. This means that donations to Kindernothilfe Austria can be deducted from taxes. Kindernothilfe Austria has also appointed its own ombudsman to fight corruption. In 2016, two board members of the association set up a charitable foundation in accordance with the Federal Foundation and Fund Act 2015 - www.stiftung-kinderothilfe.at
