King Digital Entertainment PLC , also known as King.com, is a UK provider of online games. The games developed are available free-to-play as smartphone applications, browser games and on Facebook .

history

The company was founded in September 2002 by Riccardo Zacconi, Melvyn Morris and Roby Rowland in Stockholm. The first online games were offered as browser games on Midasplayer.com in September 2004. In November 2005, Midasplayer.com was renamed King.com. In March 2011, King.com launched " Candy Crush Saga " initially as a browser game. The game followed in April 2012 on Facebook and in November 2012 for Apple iOS and Android smartphones. In a very short time, King Digital Entertainment brought out other games such as “Farm Heroes Saga”, “Papa Pear Saga” and “Pepper Panic Saga” as smartphone apps and on Facebook.

On November 2, 2015, King Digital Entertainment announced that it would be fully acquired by Activision Blizzard for a purchase price of $ 5.9 billion . In July 2018, another game was released with "Diamond Diaries Saga".
