Coordinates: 42 ° 59 ′ S , 147 ° 19 ′ E The Kingborough Municipality is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Tasmania . The area is 717 km² and has about 36,000 inhabitants (2016).
Kingborough is located in the southeast of the island and belongs to the north part of the area of the capital Hobart . The area comprises 35 hamlets and villages: Adventure Bay, Aliens Rivulet, Alonnah, Baretta, Barnes Bay, Blackmans Bay, Browns River, North Bruny, South Bruny, Coningham, Dennes Point, Electrona, Flowerpot, Gordon, Great Bay, Howden, Kaoota , Kettering , Killora, Kingston, Kingston Beach, Leslie Vale, Longley, Lunawanna, Margate, Middleton, Neika, Oyster Cove, Sandfly, Sharps Corner, Simpsons Bay, Snug, Lower Snug, Tinderbox and Woodbridge. The seat of the council is in the town of Kingston in the north of the LGA, where about 10,000 inhabitants live (2016).

The Kingborough Council has twelve members. The mayor (mayor), his deputy (deputy) and ten councilors are directly elected by the residents of the LGA. Kingborough is not divided into districts.
