The Oberhelfenschwiler Church was first mentioned in 1336. Only the north wall of this high mediaeval church has survived. Small windows were found there in 1973, the fabric of which testifies to the Romanesque style . Around 1450 the choir was considerably expanded and separated from the church interior by a keel arch . The Gothic appearance of the church lasted until 1833 . Then, for reasons of space, the nave of the church was lengthened and a gallery was added. The frescoes on the south-facing side wall date back to the second half of the 16th century.

The specialty of the Oberhelfenschwiler Church is its usage rights: Since the Reformation , from 1534, the church has been used jointly by both major Christian denominations.
