Valleberga Church

The Valleberga Church is a church in the Swedish municipality of Ystad , in the village of Valleberga . It is located in the Församling Löderup, five kilometers north of Kåseberga and 18 kilometers east of Ystad and is part of the Lund diocese .

The limestone church consists of Schonen's only round church from 1190 with a castle , a choir extension from 1343 and a younger nave from 1790, which was decorated in Art Nouveau style after 1900 . The altar, which shows a figure of Peter and one of Paul , dates from the 16th century, the pulpit from 1619.

The Romanesque baptismal font, which was made by the anonymous Magister Majestatis Domini (or simply called Majestatis ) around 1260, is particularly worth seeing .

In the castle of the church is the rune stone of Valleberga .
