Martin Krumbholz

Martin Krumbholz (* 1954 in Wuppertal - Elberfeld ) is a German literary scholar and journalist .

Life

Growing up in Wuppertal-Elberfeld, Krumbholz studied literature and theater studies in Bochum and Munich. He received his doctorate in 1978 in Munich with a thesis on "Irony in the contemporary first-person novel". After working for several years at various theaters (including the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe and the Freilichtspiele Schwäbisch Hall ), he works as a literary and theater critic for, among others, Die Zeit , the Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ), the Süddeutsche Zeitung (SZ), Theater heute and for Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR), Südwestrundfunk (SWR) and Deutschlandfunk . In 2005, Krumbholz was a member of the jury for the Lessing Prize of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg . He gave the laudatory speech for Jörg Matheis at the award ceremony for literature from the District Association of the Palatinate in 2006 . At the 2008 Walter Hasenclever Literature Prize of the City of Aachen , he gave the laudation for Christoph Hein . In 2010 Krumbholz was a member of the jury for the Theatertreffen NRW at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus and of the jury for the Hasenclever Literature Prize of the City of Aachen and has been a member of the sponsorship award jury for literature of the state capital Düsseldorf since 2010. In 2012 he was also a member of the jury at the NRW Theatertreffen at the Schauspielhaus Oberhausen. In September 2012, his play Hotel Bogota was premiered at the Darmstadt State Theater .

Martin Krumbholz now lives in Düsseldorf and has a daughter.
