Kirkby Shoal is a small shoal off the Budd coast of the East Antarctic Wilkesland . It is located in about 18 m water depth at a distance of 250 m northwest of Stonehocker Point on the Clark Peninsula .
A team of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions under the direction of the hydrograph D'Arcy Thomas Gale (* 1911) mapped it in 1962 while surveying Newcomb Bay . It is named after the Australian geodesist Sydney Lorrimar Kirkby (* 1933), who was involved in these surveys.
