The Newcomb Bay is a protected side bay of Vincennes Bay on Budd Coast of the East Antarctic Wilke country . It is located between the Clark Peninsula and the Bailey Peninsula near the Windmill Islands .
It was first mapped using aerial photographs taken by the United States Navy in February 1947 during Operation Highjump . The US oceanographer Willis L. Tressler (1903–1973) surveyed the bay in February 1957 and named it after Lieutenant Robert Carl Newcomb (1926–2008), navigator of the icebreaker USS Glacier .
