Kissi Teng

Kissi Teng is one of 14 chiefdoms in the district of Kailahun in the province of Eastern in the West African state of Sierra Leone . The capital of the Chiefdom is Kangama , the largest city is Koindu . Chiefdoms are chiefdoms and have their origins in British colonial times.

Kissi Teng has a population of 30,455 (as of 2004), of which 14,711 are male and 15,744 are female. A large part of the population belongs to the West African Kissi people .

In addition to the mining of diamonds , agriculture (including cocoa, coffee and rice) plays an important role, which is the livelihood of most of the population. There is also fishing in the Mano River . Both are not infrequently practiced as a subsistence economy .

In the 2014 West Africa Ebola outbreak Kissi Teng was severely affected. Several treatment centers have been set up in the Chiefdom to combat the epidemic. In addition, around 200 local helpers were trained. AIDS is another major health problem facing the Chiefdom.
