Bernhard Christian von Katte

Bernhard Christian von Katte (* 1700 in Wust ; † August 5, 1778 in Lütgen-Mangelsdorf ) was a Prussian major general , chief of Dragoon Regiment No. 1 and heir to Wuest, Scharlibbe and Lütgen-Mangelsdorf.

Life

His father was Heinrich Christoph von Katte (born April 26, 1675; † November 21, 1743), heir of Kamern and Scharlibbe , as well as the Archbishopric of Magdeburg Chamber President and Privy Councilor as well as governor of Calbe and God's grace, as well as a knight of the Prussian Cross of Mercy. His mother was Ursula Dorothea von Möllendorff (* December 8, 1678, † July 28, 1747). The Prussian War Minister Heinrich Christoph von Katte (1699–1760), the Prussian generals Johann Friedrich von Katte (1698–1764), Karl Aemilius von Katte (1706–1757) and the major and regiment chief August von Katte (1711–1779) were his Brothers. The Prussian field marshal Hans Heinrich von Katte (1681–1741) was his uncle.

Military career

Katte entered the Prussian service early on and in 1711 joined the cuirassier regiment "Margrave Albrecht" as a standard junker . On May 22, 1716 he was cornet , on July 11, 1717 lieutenant and on December 30, 1720 staff assistant master . On September 28, 1731, he was Rittmeister and company commander in the cuirassier regiment No. 11. On January 4, 1736, he was major and squadron chief in the "Möllendorf" dragoon regiment , and on April 26, 1736 he was given the official captaincy in Calbe. During the First Silesian War Katte took part in the Battle of Chotusitz . On July 25, 1741 he became a lieutenant colonel . On April 25, 1742 he received the order Pour le Mérite and on May 19, 1742 he was already colonel with a patent from May 25, 1742. In addition, Katte rose on August 3, 1742 to the regimental commander. He fought with the regiment in the Second Silesian War . On April 10th, 1747 he became chief of the Dragoon Regiment "Lottum" and major general with a patent from April 12th, 1747. But when a review was carried out on April 24th, 1750 , Katte could no longer participate due to illness. On November 25, 1751 he received his resignation , a pension of 1000 thalers and retired to his Gut Lütgen-Mangelsdorf. He died there on August 5, 1778.

On July 15, 1755 in Scharlibbe, he married Katharina Sophie von Kröcher († April 26, 1758), the widow of the President of the Magdeburg War and Domain Chamber Kasper Wigand (Wichard) von Platen (* 1699; † March 31, 1754). After the death of his first wife, he married Henriette Wilhelmine von Möllendorf (* November 24, 1734; † February 19, 1786), daughter of General Johann Adolf von Möllendorff .
