KitchenAid is an American manufacturer of electric kitchen appliances . The best-known product is the universal kitchen machine, which is usually referred to colloquially by the company name.
history
In 1914, company founder Herbert Johnston launched his first mixer in the USA. The Hobart Model H contained 75 liters and was intended for use in bakeries. After the end of World War I , Johnston developed a blender for private households. This was offered from 1919 under the name KitchenAid Hobart model H-5. In the same year the name KitchenAid was registered as a trademark. The mixers were manufactured in Springfield , Ohio and were initially limited to four per day.
In 1920 Herbert Johnston founded the KitchenAid Manufacturing Company and moved production to Troy . In 1927, the G model, a more compact and cheaper mixer, came onto the market. This should be affordable for every household. The designer Egmont Arens had been responsible for the design of the kitchen machines since 1936. There were several design awards for the design of the K models. The model K45 “Classic” in white has been offered in almost unchanged form since 1962; the further development "Artisan" with a more powerful engine is available in numerous colors.
In 1980 Dart & Kraft bought the Hobart company. In 1986, Whirlpool bought the KitchenAid brand and related factories. KitchenAid small appliances have been manufactured in Greenville since 1994 . In addition, sales in Europe were taken over from a headquarters in Brussels .
