Kitikmeot, Unorganized
The Census Division Kitikmeot, Unorganized is part of the Kitikmeot region in Nunavut , which is in northern Canada . It serves purely statistical purposes and is uninhabited.
Kitikmeot, Unorganized is a census division . Such a unit lies below the level of the provinces and territories and can comprise various organizational units, such as county , regional municipality or regional district . Kitikmeot, Unorganized is called “Unorganized” because, in contrast to Kitikmeot , which has an area of 445,785.4 km², it only includes those areas that are outside the municipalities, namely 442,334.99 km² or 99.2 percent of the region. The Kitikmeot, Unorganized division had 24 inhabitants in 1981, 13 in 1986, only 2 in 1991, and 21 again in 2006. Since then the area has been considered uninhabited.
