Kiunga is a town on the Fly River in the North Fly District of the Western Province of Papua New Guinea .
Mainly copper ore from the Ok Tedi open pit mine , which comes via a pipeline from the northern mining town of Tabubil , is shipped via the river port of Kiunga .
