Klaa Paris (derived from Klein Paris ) refers to the Frankfurt district of Heddernheim . Heddernheim is the stronghold of the Frankfurt Carnival .

history

The name came up in the last third of the 19th century . It is intended to point out that there is just as much fun-loving people here as in Greater Paris . In the years after 1866, when the Prussians took possession of the city and the later district of Frankfurt (also Heddernheim), the people of Frankfurt moved to the former Mainz district to celebrate . The slogan “If you really want to party, go to Heddernheim. Here the air is freer, the people more lighthearted, happier, it's like Paris here. ”Klaa Paris was born.

The Klaa Paris Carnival dates back to 1839. On the occasion of the inauguration of a new public fountain that Gemaa-Bumb (municipality pump), took place on Shrove Tuesday , the first Fastnachtszug instead. Two craftsmen had witnessed the first Mainz Carnival the year before and brought this custom back to their home village. The Gemaa-Bumb is still today the symbol of the Heddernheim Carnival. A copy of the pump in paper mache goes ahead each year when the train opens. Klaa Paris was ruled by an emperor of fools .

In the 111th year of the Klaa Paris Carnival, the Free Imperial City of Klaa Paris was founded. The head of the Klaa Pariser Fassenacht is a governor borrowed from Heddernheim's Roman history, assisted by a procurator . The procession is led by a procession marshal , who is usually also the chairman of the local carnival club.

nowadays

In 1991, the move was canceled for the first time since 1952 because of the Gulf War , after it almost fell victim to hurricane Vivian in 1990 and could only be carried out in a much shortened form. In 2016 the move was also canceled due to announced squalls.

Until the 1990s, the foolish hustle and bustle began in the morning with the “storming” of the Hessischer Rundfunk , which has its broadcasting center in the nearby Dornbusch district . After the disguised fools had taken command of the radio, the foolish people marched to Heddernheim, where the procession winds its way through the narrow streets in the afternoon. Afterwards, the foreign fools move home peacefully, only the locals meet in the assembly rooms and town houses of the clubs for a sweep.

Since the "storming" of the broadcasting house was ended by the then HR director Hartwig Kelm , the current director has taken on a leading role in preparing the move. Under Thomas I, governor of the “Foolishly Free Imperial City of Klaa Paris”, Heddernheim celebrated the 175th Mardi Gras parade with 111 car numbers in 2014. It is considered one of the oldest Hessian carnival parades.
