Klas Östergren (born February 20, 1955 in Stockholm , Sweden ) is a Swedish author, screenwriter and translator. From December 20, 2014 to May 7, 2018, he occupied chair number 11 at the Swedish Academy .

Life

Östergren was 20 years old when his first novel, Attila, was published in 1975. He has received awards for his scripts, is the author of nearly twenty novels and a translator for English-language literature. From 1982 to 1989 he was married to the Swedish actress Pernilla August . The couple have a daughter.
