Klaus-Jürgen Lais (born January 21, 1944 in Wuppertal ) is a German politician of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD).

Life

education and profession

Lais attended elementary school until 1958 and learned to be an electrician from 1961 to 1964. He attended the advanced vocational school and obtained his technical qualification, then from 1965 to 1969 the State Engineering School Saarbrücken, which he graduated in 1969 with an engineering diploma in the field of electrical engineering. From 1969 to 1983 Lais worked as an engineer at Deutsche Bundespost / Deutsche Telekom , from 2001 to 2009 again at Deutsche Telekom (political interest group for Rhineland-Palatinate) and after 2009 as a consulting engineer.

Local politician

In 1968 Lais joined the SPD. From 1977 to 1990 he held the office of chairman of the local association in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse . From 1979 to 1984 and from 1989 to 1994 he was a member of the local city council. From 1990 to 1996 he was chairman of the SPD sub-district Neustadt.

Landtag politician

From 1983 to 2001 (in the 10th to 13th electoral term) Lais was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament . In 1991 he was directly elected in the Neustadt an der Weinstrasse constituency. In the 10th electoral term he was deputy chairman of the media policy committee and a member of the cultural policy committee. In the 11th electoral term he was again Deputy Chairman of the Media Policy Committee and a member of the Committee on Economics and Transport as well as the Committee of Inquiry into "Casino Concessions and Broadcasting Licenses". In the 12th electoral term he chaired the Media Policy Committee and was a member of the Committee on Economics and Transport. In the 13th electoral term he was a member of the committees for economy and transport as well as for media policy.
