Klaus Ammann (* 1949 in the Allgäu) is a German musician and composer .

After studying at the Leopold Mozart Conservatory in Augsburg (composition, conducting, piano), he founded The Little Schoolband in 1972 . From this formation in the vicinity of the Joseph-Bernhart-Gymnasium in Türkheim emerged in 1981 the Klaus Ammann Big Band , which quickly achieved international success (including Royal Albert Hall, London). The orchestra became known through numerous tours at home and abroad, radio and television broadcasts and as the house orchestra of the German Theater in Munich. Ammann writes specific arrangements for the Klaus Ammann orchestra in the line-up of big band, choir and strings, which are based on the style of James Last .

In 1992 Ammann adapted the musical Jesus Christ Superstar by Andrew Lloyd Webber , which was performed in two seasons in 1992 and 1995 at the Musical Theater Schwaben in Türkheim . In 1999 he composed the musical 2000 Years of Jesus , which was staged for three seasons at the Musical Theater Schwaben. In 2003, his Ganghofer musical Salzsaga - An Alpine Myth is Music was premiered at the Theater am Königssee .

Abuse allegations 2004

In 2004 Ammann was investigated for the sexual abuse of minors and rape. The preliminary investigation attracted nationwide attention, but was discontinued after about a year due to the statute of limitations and lack of evidence. Ammann ended his teaching activities at the Gymnasium Türkheim a few months before the start of the investigation in order to devote himself more intensively to his music projects. After the allegations became known, he spent a few weeks in custody and publicly admitted diverse sexual relationships with female members of his big band, which mainly consisted of pupils from the Türkheimer Gymnasium, and other pupils, who would have been over 14 years old except for one barred case. The allegations related to a period of 28 years. The preliminary investigation was closed in 2005 before the trial opened. Some cases were statute-barred, in others it could not be proven beyond doubt that the allegedly abused women were younger than 16 years old at the time of the crime. Amman was not compensated for the several weeks of pre-trial detention.
