Klaus Gasteiger (born January 7, 1965 in Schwaz ) is an Austrian politician. Between 1999 and 2003 he was a member of the Federal Council and from 2003 to 2013 and from November 16, 2016 to March 28, 2018, a member of the Tyrolean state parliament . Since September 24, 2000 he has been directly elected mayor of the municipality of Kaltenbach .

education and profession

Klaus Gasteiger attended elementary school in Kaltenbach between 1971 and 1975 and then went to secondary school in Stumm until 1979 . After completing the polytechnic course in Stumm in 1979/80, Klaus Gasteiger began an apprenticeship as a carpenter, which he successfully completed in 1983 after attending the vocational school for woodworking in Absam .

Between 1983 and 1985 Klaus Gasteiger worked as a carpenter journeyman, from 1985 to 1986 he did his military service in the Austrian Armed Forces . He then joined the company Empl Fahrzeugwerk Ges.mbH in Kaltenbach and from 1988 built up the fire engine sales department. In 1999 Klaus Gasteiger left the Empl company and ran a trading agency between 1999 and 2002. Between September 15, 2014 and October 31, 2016 he was the managing director of ASKÖ Tirol GmbH under commercial and trade law, and has been the community supervisor at GemNova since April 1, 2018!

politics

Klaus Gasteiger joined the SPÖ in 1991 and has been a member of the Kaltenbach community council since 1992. He has been a member of the community council since 1998, from September 28, 2000 to August 17, 2017, and since November 20, 2017, he is again directly elected mayor of the community of Kaltenbach.

Between March 30, 1999 and October 20, 2003, he was a member of the regional chamber in parliament, the Austrian Federal Council; between October 21, 2003 and May 28, 2013, and again from November 16, 2016 to March 28, 2018, he is a member of the Tyrolean state parliament.

Within the party, Klaus Gasteiger was deputy district party chairman of the SPÖ in the Schwaz district between 1995 and 1999 and took over the district chairmanship from 1999 to 2014; Between 1999 and 2014 he was a member of the regional party executive of the SPÖ Tirol and was also one of the deputies of the regional party chairman. Between October 6, 2016 and May 24, 2018, he was again district party chairman, and has since left all SPÖ functions.

He was a member of many SPÖ associations and SPÖ organizations and, among other things, between 1998 and 2013 a member of the Social Democratic Economic Association of Tyrol, and between 2000 and 2003 he was a functionary of the Tyrol Chamber of Commerce.

Private

Klaus Gasteiger has been married to his wife Maria since 1999 and they both have two sons.
