Klaus Harnisch

Klaus Harnisch (born December 13, 1933 in Halle / Saale ) is a German director , dramaturge and cultural manager .

After graduating from high school, he studied music theater directing with Heinz Rückert in Halle (then University of Music ) and Carl Riha in Berlin (German University of Music, now University of Music "Hanns Eisler" Berlin ) from 1952 to 1957, and from 1972 to 1974 distance learning cultural studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin .

From 1957 Harnisch worked as a director at various theaters in the GDR and from 1972 to 1981 as chief dramaturge of the music theater at the Landestheater Halle (today Oper Halle ). In 1979 he wrote the libretto for the opera Buchner of Friedrich Schenker , which premiered in 1987 at the Apollo Hall of the Berlin State Opera took place. In the directorate for theater and orchestra at the Ministry of Culture of the GDR (DTO), he headed the department of board members music theater from 1981 to 1990.

After the political change , he co-founded the Conductor Forum funding program of the German Music Council in 1990 and was its managing director from 1991 to 1999. As a retired man, Klaus Harnisch developed a workshop concept for interactive conducting and from 2002 to 2015 he worked as a co-founder and project representative for the Rector for Das Kritische Orchester - Workshop for Interactive Conducting on a voluntary basis at the Hanns Eisler Music Academy in Berlin. In 2016 he was made an honorary member of the "Hanns Eisler" University of Music in Berlin.
