Klaus Johann Grobe is a Swiss pop band from Zurich and Basel that was founded in 2011.
history
The band was founded in 2011 with the fantasy name Klaus Johann Grobe . They released their own debut EP at the end of 2011. Salvation Records in Liverpool bought the remaining copies in 2012 and released them again. That brought Klaus Johann Grobe to Great Britain, where they played at the Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia on September 27, 2013. From the following offers from several labels, the band chose the American label Trouble In Mind Records from Chicago, founded in 2009 . About this the single Traumhaft was released in February 2014 , followed by the debut album In the sense of time on April 29, 2014.
In 2014 they toured Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and Great Britain for the second half of the year. On September 26, 2014 they played again at the Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia. At the end of 2014 they were tour support in Germany for the American garage rock The Growlers and support for the British rock band Temples on their December tour through Great Britain.
The year 2015 started with a major tour through Great Britain, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, France and Spain. They played at Maifeld Derby , Eurosonic, The Great Escape, Eindhoven Psych Lab, Paleo Festival and Zaragoza Psychfest, among others. On May 24th 2015 they played at the 2nd Way Back When Festival in Dortmund . On July 21, 2015 they played at the 40th Paléo Festival Nyon in Nyon , Switzerland. A performance at the Levitation Festival in Austin , Texas was scheduled for April 29, 2016 , but the festival was canceled due to bad weather. The second album Spagat der Liebe was released on May 6, 2016 via Trouble In Mind / Cargo Records. In July 2016, Klaus Johann Grobe went on his first tour through the United States. They visited the United States for the second time in July 2016, now supporting the Unknown Mortal Orchestra .
On July 19, 2018, Klaus Johann Grobe released Discogedanken , the first single from their third studio album, Du bist so symmetrisch . The radio station ByteFM described the song as a "crooked disco design". You're So Symmetrical will appear on October 26, 2018.
The duo is reinforced by bassist Stephan Brunner and Ernst David Hangartner, as well as Andrew Wolfensberger on keyboards and cowbell.
